Usually I’m asleep at this time, but today I just cannot fall asleep even though I drank NyQuil. I don’t know if the pharmacists have watered down this medicine or my body is like “ehh” and won’t get drowsy off it anymore. Anywho, I am bored. I wish I had the movie She’s All That, because I could really used some Freddie Prinze Jr. eye candy right now. Haha I was just joking (but, honestly the guy is hot). I really love this movie, maybe it’s because it’s the first romantic comedy I remember watching. I was six when my then 17-year old sister took me to the theaters to see this teen movie. A high school jock makes a bet that he can turn an unattractive girl into the school’s prom queen, she finds out and gets pissed but at the end they kiss under the moonlight to Sixpence None the Richer’s “Kiss Me,” and everything is perfect. Yeah, the plotline may seem corny, but it’s sweet and I just love it. I don’t think I’ve ever actually admitted this to anyone but I love romantic comedies. They’re my guilty pleasure. I have come to enjoy when the lead young woman drops something and the lead guy gets down to help her and suddenly their hands touch and they make contact and in your mind you already know they’ve fallen in love. Call me a hopeless romantic, I don’t care, I just love watching love stories on screen.
I guess it just makes me hope for the day I have that “connection” with a guy. My best friend said she would compare me to Katherine Heigel’s character Jane from 27 Dresses because apparently we both just want to find love. “I don’t know if you would actually get drunk and sing Bennie and the Jets in a bar with a guy but you both seem like the same person,” this was a paraphrased quote from my friend and my answer is that if the guy looked liked James Marsden then maybe I would do it. HA!
So while I wait patiently to meet my future husband, I will continue to enjoy watching romantic comedies with my sisters or alone in my room.
